Product Description

This is a really cute little piece of history and medical history. It is complete and probably would function if you were so inclined. The Cresolene vaporizer was advertised to be a cure for whooping cough, would relieve asthma, scarlet fever, diphtheria and hay fever, now considered to be totally false. it most likely gave some short time relief to those suffering respiratory issues.  You would put a few drops of the product into the bowl above the heating lamp, which you would buy from a pharmacist or apothecary and it would then be heated up by the tiny little kerosene lamp below giving off something that may have smelled similar to Vick’s vapor rub. You can find empty vintage bottles from the turn of the century of this product sold on eBay etc.

The bowl holder is marked with two patents, Aug 4 86 and Aug 8 89. The clear glass lamp reservoir has raised letters CRESOLENE VAPOR. Just a lovely piece.
