This is a handmade Bowie Knife, from the Kansas City, Missouri area. It was made in 1905-06 by a blacksmith.

This knife was made by a black blacksmith after he was horsewhipped by the Ku Klux Klan and 1905. He supposedly made two knives, one to carry and one for home, for protectioN. This one was purchased from the blacksmith‘s son in 1999, see letter.

This knife is well balanced and fits my large hand very well. The blade was made out of a steel file the handle is oak with three copper rivets. The guard is made from melted down brass cartridges that were poured into a primitive but ornate mold. This is truly a very unique piece of American history. No international shipping.
