Antique German Fencing foil in a French style or type. Marked on the Forte are the letters WK in an oval with four diamond shaped arrows around the oval. It is stamped on the blade twice along with the name of the area of Germany where it was made (stamped in between the WKs) “SOLINGEN”. Solingen appears on 2 sides of the 4sided blade. The blade is square. On the base of the blade is a knight’s helmet with a plume, this is stamped, only once on the side with the WKs. The handle wrap is in unusually good shape. Leather finger protectors, the Pads, are in good shape as well and still light in color. There is no rubber or plastic button, but the blade tip has a “head of a nail” tip weld on at the point for safety and forms the button. The ricasso and pommel are nicely machined brass. By the markings it was made around 1890 to 1930
Blade is 34” the whole foil is 41.5” and the grips or handle is 7.5”
