This is an M1 Garand by Springfield. Used during the  Korean War Era, 30.06 cal., and most likely it has been rebuilt once. It has a lot of Springfield (SA) parts. Trigger group is SA, the op rod is SA, bolt is SA, barrel is SA (Sept. 1955-  9  55) etc. The serial number is 59245oo, post WWII.  The metal is nice, but the wood is a very dark walnut stock that might be original to the gun, though I believe the stock is a WWII style. The wood has been roughed up a bit near the pistol grip. The color is not matching, the rear handguard is a lighter wood (possibly Dutch?) and was replaced. This M1 is not a looker, but again the metal is nice. On sale now $750.00

Most countries on both sides in WWII were still using bolt action rifles that were designs from the first World War when we had the M1! American GI's had 8 rounds of 30.06 downrange, as fast as you could pull the trigger! General Patton thought it was the best weapon ever designed for war. This rifle was still highly regarded in Korean War, it worked both in the heat and in subzero temps.
