SOLD* 12/04/2020 This Dress sword with scabbard, made by Springfield Armory for the US Army before World war I is a type M1902. The US Armory at Springfield made swords ( as well as rifles, machine guns and some pistols ) for the US military till 1928. This one was most likely made 1912 to 1918 time period.
It belonged to Capt. Austin Bruff who served in France in 1918. And for time during WWII.
The acid etched marking is clear and easy to read.

Leather Blade Washer or pad is in great shape.
30” Blade
5” handle grip made of bone or dark brown horn.
Blade is beautiful.
Guard is badly bent and there is a crack easily seen on the quillon.
The Scabbard is in nice shape for it age, with normal wear and very small oxidation spots.
