Sadly this rifle has been sportized, but could be returned to original miltary condition if you want too. The bolt was bent down by a gunsmith many years ago, but nicely done. The wood is nice, but it has been cut down somewhat and therefore it’s considered “ not correct” as well. The upper wooden hand guard is missing. But, the barrel has great rifling and is very shiny. The rifle’s bolt matches the receiver. Because of this I believe it would be a great shooter and 7.7mm is a nice round for hunting in North America. Ammo is not cheap, but, there are more and more companies making obsolete ammunition for older guns like this.
The Arisaka action is still considered one of the simplest and robust actions of WWII. I truly enjoy collecting older guns that I do not shoot, but this is one I would shoot and shoot a lot. You could get the feel of what a Japanese trooper carried and fired in WWII. Or, with the right ammo, you could just go hunting with it. Thanks for looking.
