Loading... Please wait...This sword is most likely a post-Civil War dress sword for someone who was in the grand Army of the Republic, GAR. Scabbard is stamp with a very small “US” at brass scabbard tip edge. The manufacture is not listed but the seller is “Oak Hall Clothing Co. Boston Mass“. This dress sword was most likely sold after 1872 ( When regulations changed for the number of loops on the scabbard) until the 1900s. The sword is in good shape for its age. But sadly it was not stored in a dry place, most likely an un- air-conditioned basement or attic in the Boston area with a high humidity in the summer and very cold winters. This cause it to eventually rust in small places here and there. The leather grip is still nice with some wear. It is still a very nice vintage piece to hang on your wall or put in your den next to your Civil War Calvary Kepi or your Spanish American war memorabilia.
