Colt 1862 Police Revolver .36 cal, matching, 5 shot Mfg 1866

This is a very nice piece with beautiful lines and curves. All the markings are correct and in place. Note even the barrel wedge has a matching number to the gun!

Markings are as followed “36 CAL” on trigger guard front strap with a small “8” forward. See photo.

 Top of the barrel (5 1/2 inches round) is marked 

“ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK US AMERICA” the L is underlined and smaller.

a small “D” is under the barrel near the ramrod lever joint.

 the fluted cylinder is marked 

“ PAT. SEPT. 10 1850”

Frame on left side is marked

Grips are varnished walnut with no chips. Some silver plate remains visible but very little. The Police model had a silver plated brass grip frame. Many of these pistols will convert it to a metallic cartridges so very few are remaining in the original question configuration.
