Loading... Please wait...The Mosin-Nagant is one of the most recognizable and highly collected miltary surplus rifles on the market. After experiencing heavy losses at the hands of the Ottomans using repeating rifles during the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) the Russian Empire saw the need for a new rifle for it's armed forces. After some experimentation and development a rifle designed by Captain Sergai Mosin was chosen, the rifle we know today as the Mosin-Nagant M91 Rifle! A multitude of varirants were produced, but originally, the Mosin-Nagant was chambered in 7.62x54R and held 5 rounds. The Mosin-Nagant saw heavy use in WWI and WWII. It also saw action in so many conflicts amongst so many users it's almost impossible to keep count, and is even used to this day by national guards, militias, and as a ceremonail or "parade" rifle.
For sale here is an M1891 variant that was initially manufactured in 1928. After the end of the Russian Civil War in 1924 a great effort was made to modernize the Mosin, such as changing the sight measurments from arshins to meters, and the inclusion of a hooded post front sight. This rifle has these features. The serial number on the metal parts is "95569" except on the magazine. The original serial number on the magazine was "49470", but was scratched out and replaced with "95569". This replaced part, combined with the style of the stock confirms that this was rearseneled by the Soviet military at some point in it's life. There is also a "2" stamped onto the wooden stock. There are proofmarks on many of the metal parts but making out the exact shape is difficult. Stock is of a red-brown color and has some scratches and various dings. The rifling is in excellent shape! Comes with a cleaning rod!
